11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: Communities  and the Olympics (Learnings from 2002)
As Utah prepares for the return to the world stage in 2034, this session explores the lasting impact of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games on local communities - and how those experiences can inform our approach to 2034. From infrastructure investments and tourism growth to community pride and global visibility, the 2002 Games left a powerful legacy that still shapes Utah today.
Join us for a deep dive into the social, economic, and cultural lessons learned from 2002, including what worked, what surprised us, and what we would do differently. We'll discuss strategies for ensuring that the benefits of the Games reach every corner of Utah - from rural towns to urban centers - and how to build an Olympic legacy that strengthens communities long after the torch is extinguished. This session will provide valuable insights into what it means to host an Olympic Games with and for the community.
